Last night in New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) presented its awards. The institution honours excellence in fashion design and is often referred to as "The Oscars of Fashion". The awards are voted on by its 1500 members made up of fashion editors, stylists and retailers.

Womenswear Designer - Marc Jacobs
Menswear Designer - Thom Browne
Accessories Designer - Mansur Gavriel
The Founder's Award - Donna Karan
International Award - Gucci: Alessandro Michele
Special Tribute - David Bowie
Media Award - Imran Amed - Editor In Chief at The Business of Fashion
The sartorial winners included:
US Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour, and her daughter Bee Shaffer, both in Gucci.
Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough:

And finally, Beyonce, who won the Fashion Icon award wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a sequinned pinstripe menswear suit straight-off the Givenchy menswear catwalk.
